By sourcing wood locally, we reduce transportation emissions, strengthen regional businesses, and ensure, by personally reviewing and approving every board we buy, that every piece of lumber meets our exacting standards. Our commitment to local suppliers also allows us to build personal relationships, ensuring transparency and trust throughout the process.

Ethically Sourced, Premium Materials

We strive to use FSC-certified wood wherever possible. As a small family-owned business, this isn’t always available through our local purveyors. When FSC certification isn’t an option, we still select only the highest-quality, responsibly harvested hardwood. Each board is inspected for durability, stability, and safety, because your child’s wellbeing is non-negotiable.

Non-Toxic Finishes from Germany

Bergwood products are finished with non-toxic, high-quality coatings imported from Germany. These finishes meet strict European safety standards, ensuring that every table, chair, and shelf in your home is free from harmful chemicals. While we are not yet Greenguard Gold certified (a process that remains costly for small businesses like us) our materials and finishes adhere to rigorous safety and quality standards that exceed regulatory requirements.
