Bergwood was born out of a simple need: furniture and toys we could trust for our own children. We wanted pieces that were beautiful and durable, and also empowered our kids to read, play, learn, and develop their independence in line with Montessori principles.
When we couldn’t find exactly what we wanted, we decided to build it ourselves. We're two parents with manufacturing backgrounds who decided to put our knowledge to work engineering and building the smartest kids' furniture on the market. Our furniture is designed for their world - their height, their abilities, and their desire to do independent tasks like picking out clothes, choosing bedtime stories, and tidying up toys all by themselves.
Each Bergwood piece is designed and handcrafted in our small shop in Kansas City. We build every piece ourselves in small batches. That means your piece gets actual care and attention, not just shipped in from an overseas factory.
